Indication:
Bacterial infections (e.g., UTIs, bronchitis, pneumonia, otitis media).
Mode of Action:
Inhibits bacterial folic acid synthesis.
Cautions:
Sulfa allergy.
Indication:
GI upset, blood dyscrasias, photosensitivity, crystalluria, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
NC/PT:
Monitor CBC levels. Wear sunscreen, increase fluid intake (to prevent crystalluria). Antibiotic considerations (card 22).
