Anti-Inflammatories Corticosteroids (Inhaled/Nasal)

Indication:

Asthma, rhinitis (i.e., nasal congestion).

Mode of Action:

↓ Airway inflammation.

Indication:

Pharyngitis (i.e., sore throat), oral candidiasis, bone demineralization with long-term use, immunosuppression.

NC/PT:

If used with a bronchodilator, administer bronchodilator first, wait 5 minutes, then administer the corticosteroid. Rinse mouth with water after administration. Clean mouthpiece weekly. Do not use to treat asthma attacks. Do not stop this medication abruptly; it must be tapered. Infection precautions (card 25).
