Indication:
Allergies, motion sickness, urticaria (i.e., hives).
Mode of Action:
Blocks the action of histamines.
Cautions:
Use cautiously in patients with glaucoma.
Indication:
1st generation: sedation, anticholinergic effects (e.g., dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, photosensitivity).
NC/PT:
Implement fall precautions due to sedation. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery when taking 1st generation antihistamines. Anticholinergic considerations (card 23).
