Laxatives: Osmotic Laxative for Hepatic Encephalopathy
Indication:
Hepatic encephalopathy (due to build up of ammonia in the body).
Mode of Action:
Draws water into intestine, promotes peristalsis. Lowers pH in the colon, promoting ammonia excretion.
